Hormone Headache
hormone headaches
Hey Mama, hormone headaches are the worst, but they are pretty common in pregnancy. There’s a lot of things that can cause them like muscle tension, hormones, poor sleep, lack of hydration, blood sugar, and stress. The most commonly used medication is Tylenol, but it doesn’t come without potential risks like many other over the counter medications. When days like this happen you can confidently grab your past tense and peppermint. Apply both at your temples, behind your ears, and the back of your neck. I’m going to share four more natural headache alternatives to use for those pregnant mamas that I recommend in my practice.
- You’re going to apply a drop of Copaiba and Peppermint in the palm of your hand. Take your thumb, rub it in the oil and rub that at the roof of your mouth for 30 seconds. This tension protocol works like magic almost every time.
- Take a Ginger Throat Drop if you feel a headache coming on. It is a natural anti-inflammatory that is considered safe in pregnancy.
- Take a hot bath with a couple of cups of Epsom salts and 5 drops of Serenity or Balance essential oils. This is a deeply relaxing aromatherapy that can relieve a headache.
- Adding a little magnesium in your normal supplements may help. A typical dose is like 400-800 mg a day of magnesium glycinate.
If you experience other accompanying discomforts make sure that you get your blood pressure checked and talk to your midwife or doctor because there could be more things going on. All of these suggestions are safe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. While breastfeeding, be mindful of the peppermint.
